The OSG 1400100105 is a thread forming tap designed for cold-forming internal threads without cutting, eliminating chips and reducing the risk of tap breakage in blind hole applications. Built from cobalt high-speed steel and finished with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, this tap delivers extended tool life and improved resistance to heat and wear. It is configured as a bottoming chamfer with 1.5 to 2 chamfered threads, allowing threads to be formed close to the bottom of a blind hole. At 0-80 UNF, it produces fine unified threads in small-diameter applications. Overall length is 1.6913 inches with a shank diameter of 0.1410 inches. This tap is part of the HY-PRO NRT series and is sized for precision machining and assembly work.
This tap is suited for threading blind holes in a range of metallic workpiece materials including alloy steel, aluminum, carbon steel, die steel, hardened steel, and stainless steel. It is commonly used in precision manufacturing, instrument assembly, and aerospace or electronics fabrication where small UNF threads are required.
