The OSG 1332600 is a standard pipe tap designed to cut National Pipe Straight Fuel (NPSF) threads in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Built from high-speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish, this tap cuts 1/8-27 threads - 27 threads per inch on a 1/8-inch nominal pipe size - with a 4-flute configuration that promotes chip evacuation and stable thread formation. Overall length is 2.126 inches with a thread length of 0.75 inches. It is used by plumbers, pipefitters, machinists, and HVAC technicians who need to thread pipe ports in fittings, manifolds, and housings during fabrication or repair work.
This tap is suited for threading straight fuel pipe ports in a shop or field setting. Rated for use in aluminum, carbon steel, cast iron, and hardened steel, it covers a wide range of base materials commonly encountered in mechanical, plumbing, and HVAC applications. The NPSF thread standard produces a straight, pressure-tight thread form used primarily in fluid and fuel system connections. The 4-flute geometry and regular hook angle work across general-purpose tapping operations on manual or machine tap drives.
Designed for cutting NPSF straight pipe threads in aluminum, carbon steel, cast iron, and hardened steel workpieces. Fits standard tap wrench and machine tap holders accepting a 0.4375-inch shank diameter.
Secure the workpiece before tapping and use a proper cutting fluid matched to the base material to extend tap life and improve thread finish. Apply consistent, steady pressure and back off periodically to break chips, especially in cast iron or hardened steel. Inspect the thread with a plug gauge after tapping to confirm fit before assembling pressurized fuel or fluid connections. Follow applicable mechanical and plumbing codes for thread engagement requirements on pressure-rated assemblies.
