The OSG 1330100 is a standard NPS pipe tap designed to cut 1/8-27 internal pipe threads in a range of metals. It features 4 flutes and a regular hook geometry, giving it the chip clearance and cutting action needed for clean, accurate threads in production and maintenance applications. Built from high-speed steel (HSS) with a bright/uncoated finish, it runs without coating interference and can be resharpened when worn. Overall length is 2.126 inches, with a 0.75-inch thread length. Licensed plumbers, pipefitters, and machinists reach for this tap when threading ports, fittings, and couplings that follow NPS dimensional standards.
This tap is suited for threading 1/8-27 NPS pipe connections in residential and commercial plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical piping applications. It performs in aluminum, carbon steel, cast iron, and hardened steel. The 0.4375-inch shank diameter and 0.3280-inch square size fit standard tap handles and machine holders. Typical use includes threading raw stock, nipples, fittings, and manifold ports where a standard NPS pipe thread form is required.
Designed for use in any application requiring a 1/8-27 NPS internal pipe thread. Compatible with standard tap handles and machine tap holders accepting a 0.4375-inch shank diameter. Suitable for threading aluminum, carbon steel, cast iron, and hardened steel workpieces.
This tap should be installed and operated by a qualified machinist, pipefitter, or plumber familiar with threading tools and proper cutting technique. Always secure the workpiece and apply a suitable cutting fluid for the material being tapped to extend tool life and improve thread quality. Back the tap off periodically to break chips, particularly in deeper holes or tougher materials. Follow applicable IFGC and IPC guidelines when threading pipe connections in gas or plumbing systems.
