The OSG 1316210408 is a spiral flute tap designed for threading M6x1.00 metric coarse internal threads in demanding materials. Built from powdered metal and finished with a TiCN (Titanium Carbonitride) coating, this tap delivers improved wear resistance and heat tolerance compared to standard high-speed steel tooling. The modified bottoming chamfer allows threading close to the bottom of blind holes. With a 3-flute spiral design and a right-hand helix angle of 10 degrees, the tap efficiently evacuates chips upward during cutting. It is suited for use by machinists, tool-and-die makers, and maintenance technicians working in production or job-shop environments.
This tap is intended for threading blind or through holes in alloy steel, stainless steel, hardened steel, titanium, and high-nickel alloys. The 6H class of fit and D5 thread limit make it appropriate for standard metric tolerance threading where a close but free-running fit is required. The modified bottoming chamfer is particularly useful in applications where thread engagement must begin near the bottom of a hole with limited runout space. It fits standard tap holders and machine spindles accepting round-shank taps with a 0.367-inch shank diameter.
Rated for use in alloy steel, stainless steel, hardened steel, titanium, and high-nickel alloys. Part of the OSG Series 345TI product line. Designed for use in standard CNC and manual tapping operations accepting a 0.367-inch round shank tap.
Installation should be performed by qualified machinists or maintenance technicians using a properly aligned tap holder or CNC rigid-tapping setup. Ensure the workpiece is securely fixtured and the pilot hole diameter is correct for the M6x1.00 thread form before beginning the tapping operation. Apply appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material, particularly when tapping stainless steel, titanium, or high-nickel alloys. Do not exceed the rated torque capacity of the tap holder, and never reverse direction abruptly in a blind hole without confirming chip clearance.
