The OSG 1313100 is a standard NPTF pipe tap designed to cut internal tapered pipe threads in metal workpieces. Sized at 3/4-14 - meaning a 3/4-inch nominal pipe diameter with 14 threads per inch - this tap produces threads that conform to the National Pipe Taper Fuel (NPTF) standard, which provides a pressure-tight mechanical seal without relying solely on thread sealant. The tool is manufactured from high-speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish and features 5 flutes with a regular hook geometry. Overall length is 3.25 inches. It is used by machinists, pipefitters, and maintenance technicians working in production or repair environments where accurate pipe thread engagement is required.
This tap is suited for threading carbon steel, cast iron, and aluminum workpieces in pipe fitting fabrication and maintenance applications. The NPTF profile is common in hydraulic, pneumatic, and fuel-line assemblies where thread-to-thread sealing integrity is critical. The 5-flute configuration provides good chip clearance and cutting efficiency in through-hole and blind-hole threading operations at standard production feeds. It is a single-unit purchase with no minimum quantity beyond one piece.
Designed for use in applications requiring NPTF-standard internal pipe threads in carbon steel, cast iron, and aluminum. Compatible with standard tapping equipment accepting a 0.9063-inch shank diameter with a 0.6790-inch square drive.
This tap should be installed and operated by qualified machinists or pipefitters familiar with tapping feeds, speeds, and cutting fluid requirements for the workpiece material. Always secure the workpiece firmly and ensure the tap is properly aligned before beginning the threading operation to avoid tap breakage or thread damage. Use an appropriate cutting fluid for the material being tapped. Inspect the tap for wear or chipping before each use and replace if the cutting edges show deterioration.
