The OSG 1305711208 is a spiral flute tap designed for threading 10-32 UNF holes in demanding materials. Part of the EXOTAP VC-10TI series, it is manufactured from powdered metal and finished with a TICN (Titanium Carbonitride) coating for extended tool life in tough applications. The modified bottoming chamfer allows threading close to the bottom of blind holes. With a 2B class of fit and H3 thread limit, it produces threads within tight commercial tolerances. The right-hand spiral flute design pulls chips up and out of the hole during tapping, reducing the risk of chip packing in through and blind hole applications.
This tap is suited for production and job-shop environments where alloy steel, stainless steel, hardened steel, titanium, and high-nickel alloy workpieces require reliable 10-32 UNF internal threads. The modified bottoming chamfer makes it a strong choice for blind-hole work in aerospace, defense, and precision machining applications. It is used by machinists and tool-and-die professionals running CNC machining centers or manual tapping operations where controlled chip evacuation is critical. Overall length is 2.5 inches with a shank diameter of 0.255 inches, fitting standard tap holders and quick-change adapters for that size range.
Designed for cutting 10-32 UNF internal threads in alloy steel, stainless steel, hardened steel, titanium, and high-nickel alloy workpieces. Compatible with standard tap holders and quick-change tap adapters sized for a 0.255-inch shank diameter. Coolant-through is not supported.
Tapping operations should be performed by qualified machinists following shop safety procedures. Secure the workpiece and verify correct spindle speed and feed rate for the material being tapped before starting. Use a suitable tapping fluid or cutting oil for the specific workpiece material to protect the coating and extend tool life. Inspect the tap for wear or chipping before each use, particularly when working in hardened or high-nickel alloy materials where tool degradation is accelerated.
