The OSG 1213901 is a spiral point tap designed for cutting 10-32 UNF internal threads in a wide range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Built from high-speed steel with a steam oxide finish, this bottoming tap is engineered to produce accurate 2B class-of-fit threads in applications where the tap must reach close to the bottom of a blind hole. With 2 flutes and a right-hand thread direction, the 1213901 pushes chips forward ahead of the cutting teeth, keeping the flutes clear and reducing the risk of chip packing during through-hole and shallow blind-hole operations. Licensed machinists, toolmakers, and maintenance technicians are the primary installers of this tool.
This tap is suited for use in both production and maintenance machining environments. It is rated for threading aluminum, cast aluminum, cast iron, low-carbon steel, medium-carbon steel, high-carbon steel, and hardened steel. The H3 thread limit makes it appropriate for applications requiring controlled oversize tolerance, which is common when threading materials that tend to spring back after cutting. The 105B series is a standard-duty spiral point configuration compatible with typical hand-tap or machine-tap operations at conventional spindle speeds.
Rated for threading aluminum, cast aluminum, cast iron, low-carbon steel, medium-carbon steel, high-carbon steel, and hardened steel. OSG 105B series, H3 thread limit, right-hand cut, 10-32 UNF. Verify that the tapped hole depth and pre-drill size conform to UNF tap drill charts before use.
This tap is installed by machinists and maintenance technicians using a tap wrench, tapping head, or CNC tapping cycle. Power down and secure the workpiece before beginning any tapping operation. Apply an appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life and improve thread finish. Do not force the tap if resistance increases unexpectedly - back off to clear chips and inspect the flutes before continuing.
