The OSG 1213500 is a spiral point tap designed for threading 10-24 UNC internal threads in a wide range of metals. Built from high-speed steel with a bright finish, this bottoming chamfer tap drives chips forward ahead of the cutting edge, making it suitable for through-hole and deep-hole threading applications where chip evacuation is critical. It carries an H3 thread limit and a 2B/3B class of fit, providing consistent tolerance control for standard fastener threads. Overall length is 2.375 inches with a thread length of 0.54 inches and a shank diameter of 0.194 inches. Right-hand thread direction. Installed by machinists, tool-and-die makers, and maintenance professionals.
This tap is rated for use in aluminum, cast aluminum, cast iron, low-carbon steel, medium-carbon steel, high-carbon steel, and hardened steel. The 2-flute spiral point geometry suits power-driven tapping operations in production and repair environments where controlled chip flow reduces tap breakage risk. The bottoming chamfer allows threading closer to the bottom of a blind hole than plug or taper chamfer taps. Series 105B, no coolant-through feature, non-interrupted thread form, and no oversize designation.
Designed as an OEM-style threading tool for 10-24 UNC tapped holes in aluminum, cast aluminum, cast iron, low-carbon steel, medium-carbon steel, high-carbon steel, and hardened steel workpieces.
This tap is intended for use by qualified machinists or maintenance technicians using a tapping machine, drill press, or hand tap wrench. Power down and secure the workpiece before beginning any tapping operation. Use appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tap life and improve thread finish. Do not force the tap if resistance increases sharply, as spiral point taps in bottoming applications are susceptible to breakage if chips pack at the bottom of a blind hole.
