The OSG 1212401 is a spiral point tap designed for cutting 6-32 UNC internal threads in a wide range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Built from high-speed steel with a steam oxide coating, this plug-chamfer tap drives chips forward ahead of the cutting zone, reducing clogging in through-hole applications. It carries an H3 thread limit and a 2B class of fit, making it suitable for standard tolerance threaded assemblies. The 2-inch overall length and 0.141-inch shank diameter fit standard tap holders used in manual and machine tapping operations. Machinists, maintenance technicians, and tool and die workers are the primary installers of this tap.

The OSG 1212401 is suited for through-hole tapping in aluminum, cast aluminum, cast iron, low-carbon steel, medium-carbon steel, high-carbon steel, and hardened steel. The plug chamfer style with 2 flutes and a right-hand thread direction makes it a practical choice for production tapping and repair work on machine components, electrical enclosures, and structural hardware where 6-32 UNC fasteners are standard. It is not designed for coolant-through applications.
