The OSG 1207500 is a spiral point tap designed for cutting 6-32 UNC internal threads in a wide range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Built from high-speed steel with a bright finish, this right-hand tap features a bottoming chamfer for threading close to the bottom of blind holes. It carries a 3B class of fit and an H2 thread limit, making it appropriate for standard production threading applications in machine shops and maintenance environments. The tap measures 2 inches overall length with a 0.141-inch shank diameter and a thread length of 11/16 inches.
This tap is suited for use in general machining, light manufacturing, and MRO applications where precise thread form and controlled tolerances are required. The spiral point design pushes chips forward ahead of the cutting action, making it effective in through-hole and moderately deep blind-hole applications. Verified material applications include aluminum, cast aluminum, cast iron, hardened steel, high-carbon steel, low-carbon steel, and medium-carbon steel.
Designed for cutting 6-32 UNC threads and compatible with aluminum, cast aluminum, cast iron, hardened steel, high-carbon steel, low-carbon steel, and medium-carbon steel workpieces per OSG Series 105B specifications.
Tapping operations should be performed by a qualified machinist using a tapping head, CNC machine, or drill press with appropriate speed and feed settings for the workpiece material. Ensure the tap is properly aligned to the pre-drilled pilot hole before engagement to avoid tap breakage. Apply a suitable cutting fluid for the material being tapped. Never force a tap that has seized - back off to clear chips before continuing.
