The OSG 1205008 is a spiral point tap designed for threading 0-80 UNF internal threads in a wide range of metallic materials. Built from high-speed steel with a titanium carbonitride (TiCN) coating, this tap delivers improved wear resistance and reduced friction compared to uncoated HSS tooling. It features a plug chamfer for through-hole applications and a 2-flute spiral point geometry that pushes chips forward, ahead of the cutting zone, reducing clogging during tapping. The overall length is 1.625 inches with a thread length of 0.3125 inches (5/16 inches) and a shank diameter of 0.141 inches. The H2 thread limit provides consistent fit within the 2B class-of-fit tolerance standard. Machinists and tool-and-die tradespeople rely on this tap for precision small-diameter threading work.

At a 0-80 size, these taps are highly susceptible to breakage from misalignment or excessive feed force — use a tapping fluid or cutting oil appropriate for the workpiece material.
