The OSG 11518815 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for precision hole-making in tight-clearance applications where a shorter flute and overall length reduce deflection and improve accuracy. Built from high-speed steel with a coated finish, this bit features a 130-degree faceted point angle and a web-thinned, tapered web configuration that reduces entry force and improves chip evacuation. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 3.00 millimeters in diameter, and the overall length is approximately 1.81 inches (46.00 mm). With a 0.0935-inch (2.38 mm) cutting diameter and a 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio, it is rated as a high-performance grade bit suited for production and maintenance drilling. Licensed tradespeople and machining professionals are the primary installers.
This screw machine length drill bit is used in production machining, sheet metal fabrication, and maintenance environments where stub-length tools are preferred for rigidity. It is rated for use in steel, alloy steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate workpiece materials. The shorter body length relative to jobber-length bits makes it well-suited for drill press and CNC operations where tool overhang must be minimized. Wire size designation is No. 42, placing it in the 0.0000 to 0.1000 inch decimal inch size range.
Designed for use in steel, alloy steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate workpiece materials. Compatible with standard drill chucks and CNC spindles accepting a 3.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Part of OSG Series 1150.
Installation and use of this drill bit should be performed by qualified machinists or trade professionals familiar with cutting tool setup and speeds-and-feeds selection. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank fully in a properly sized collet or drill chuck before operation, and confirm the chuck or collet is rated for the shank diameter. Coolant-through is not supported on this bit, so external coolant or cutting fluid application is recommended when drilling steel or alloy steel at higher feed rates. Always de-energize and lock out the machine before changing tooling.
