The OSG 1111504005 is a spiral point tap designed for threading M8x1.25 metric coarse threads in a wide range of metals. Built from vanadium high-speed steel with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, it resists wear and handles the heat generated in production and job-shop environments. The plug chamfer makes it suited for through-hole tapping applications. With 3 flutes and a right-hand thread direction, it pushes chips ahead of the cutting edge to keep flutes clear. Thread length is 1.125 inches (28.6 mm). This tap is installed by machinists, tool-and-die makers, and metalworking tradespeople using a tap handle, drill press, or CNC tapping center.
The OSG 1111504005 fits production and maintenance tapping operations across industries including aerospace, automotive, fabrication, and general metalworking. It is engineered for use in aluminum, low-carbon steel, medium-carbon steel, high-carbon steel, alloy steel, die steel, stainless steel, hardened steel, cast iron, high-nickel alloy, and titanium. The plug chamfer style requires a through-hole or adequate chip clearance at the bottom of the hole. It is appropriate for both hand-tapping and machine-tapping setups.
Designed for M8x1.25 metric coarse through-hole tapping applications in aluminum, low-carbon steel, medium-carbon steel, high-carbon steel, alloy steel, die steel, stainless steel, hardened steel, cast iron, high-nickel alloy, and titanium. Part of OSG Series 11115.
This tap is installed by qualified machinists or metalworking tradespeople. Always secure the workpiece and ensure the pilot hole is drilled to the correct tap drill diameter for M8x1.25 before beginning the tapping operation. Power down or disengage the machine spindle before loading or removing the tap from the holder. Do not reverse a spiral point tap under load — back off gently if resistance is felt to avoid tap breakage.
