The OSG 1101300 is a straight flute plug tap designed for threading 3/8-16 UNC right-hand threads in a wide range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Built from high-speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish, this tap delivers consistent thread quality in through-hole and open-hole applications. It features 4 flutes and a plug chamfer, which provides a moderate lead-in that suits most general-purpose tapping work. Overall length is 2-15/16 inches with a thread length of 1-1/4 inches. The H1 thread limit indicates a tight tolerance ground thread suitable for close-tolerance fits. Installation is performed by machinists, maintenance technicians, and trade professionals working in fabrication or field repair environments.
The OSG 1101300 is suited for tapping 3/8-16 UNC threads in aluminum, cast aluminum, cast iron, low-carbon steel, medium-carbon steel, and high-carbon steel. The straight flute design makes it appropriate for through-hole tapping where chips can exit freely. The plug chamfer provides a balanced starting taper, making this tap a practical choice for general shop and field tapping operations where a starting tap is not required. It is sold individually and fits standard tap wrench and machine tap holders sized for a 0.381-inch shank diameter.
Designed for use in standard tap wrenches and machine tap holders accepting a 0.381-inch shank. Compatible workpiece materials include aluminum, cast aluminum, cast iron, low-carbon steel, medium-carbon steel, and high-carbon steel. Part of the OSG Series 101.
Power down or lock out any machine tool before installing or changing taps. Use a cutting fluid or tapping compound appropriate for the workpiece material to extend tap life and improve thread finish. Ensure the tap is aligned perpendicular to the workpiece surface before applying torque to avoid tap breakage. This tap is intended for use by qualified machinists or maintenance professionals familiar with threading operations.
