The OSG 1051102 is a straight flute bottoming tap designed for cutting internal threads in a wide range of ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Built from high-speed steel, it produces 10-32 UNF right-hand threads and is suited for threading holes that require full thread depth close to the bottom of a blind bore. The bottoming chamfer provides just 1-2 lead threads, allowing the tap to reach near the bottom of a hole without leaving unthreaded material. With an overall length of 2.375 inches and a thread length of 0.875 inches, it fits standard tap handles and machine tap holders for both hand and machine tapping operations.
This tap is intended for use in general machining, maintenance, and repair applications where precise 10-32 UNF internal threads are required. It carries an H3 thread limit, which defines a specific tolerance range for the pitch diameter, making it appropriate for standard 2B class of fit thread assemblies. Typical applications include tapping aluminum, cast aluminum, cast iron, low-carbon steel, medium-carbon steel, and high-carbon steel workpieces in production or job-shop environments. Machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and maintenance mechanics commonly use this tap for both manual and light CNC tapping work.
Designed as a standard replacement or service tap for 10-32 UNF bottoming applications in aluminum, cast aluminum, cast iron, low-carbon steel, medium-carbon steel, and high-carbon steel. Fits standard tap wrenches and machine tap holders accepting straight-shank taps of this size class.
Always secure the workpiece firmly before tapping and use an appropriate cutting fluid or tapping compound for the material being threaded. Ensure the correct drill size for a 10-32 UNF tap is used to prepare the hole before tapping begins. When using a tap wrench, apply steady downward pressure with controlled rotation to avoid tap breakage, especially near the bottom of a blind hole. Inspect the tap for wear or chipping before each use and replace if thread quality degrades.
