Product Description

The OSG 1023808 is a straight flute bottoming tap designed for threading 6-32 UNC holes in a wide range of metals. It is manufactured from high-speed steel with a titanium carbonitride (TiCN) coating that improves wear resistance and extends tool life in production tapping applications. The tap has a 2-inch overall length and an 11/16-inch thread length, with a right-hand thread direction and H3 thread limit. Three flutes provide chip clearance in through and blind hole applications. Class of fit is 2B, which meets standard UNC fastener tolerances. Machinists and maintenance technicians use this tap with a tap handle, T-handle, or machine tapping setup.

This tap is suited for blind-hole and bottom-tapping work where the thread must extend close to the bottom of the hole. The bottoming chamfer — typically 1 to 2 thread lead — allows threading to the bottom of a drilled hole after a taper or plug tap has started the thread. Compatible material applications include aluminum, cast aluminum, cast iron, high-carbon steel, low-carbon steel, and medium-carbon steel.
