The OSG 1023708 is a straight flute tap designed for cutting internal threads in a wide range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Built from high-speed steel (HSS) with a titanium carbonitride (TiCN) coating, it produces 6-32 UNC threads with a plug chamfer and a 2B class of fit. The plug chamfer eases thread starting in through-holes and blind holes with adequate depth. The three-flute design provides good chip clearance at moderate cutting speeds. Overall length is 2 inches, with a thread length of 11/16 inches and an H3 thread limit for consistent tolerance control. This tap is well-suited to production tapping operations where dimensional repeatability is required.

Installation Notes

Do not force the tap if resistance increases unexpectedly, as HSS taps can fracture under excessive torque or misalignment.
