The OSG 1006100100 is a solid carbide straight flute tap designed for cutting metric coarse internal threads in a range of production and toolroom applications. Configured as an M3x0.50 plug tap with a 6H class of fit and D3 thread limit, it produces accurate, repeatable threads that meet standard metric tolerances. The 3-flute straight flute geometry provides rigidity and chip control in shorter through-hole and blind-hole configurations. With an overall length of 1.9375 inches and a thread length of 0.625 inches, this is a compact tooling solution suited for small-diameter threading operations on CNC machining centers and manual machine tools. Licensed machinists and toolroom technicians are the primary installers.
This tap is suited for threading operations in aluminum, cast aluminum, cast iron, cobalt chrome, and copper alloy workpieces. The bright uncoated finish makes it appropriate for applications where coating interaction with the workpiece material is a concern. It fits standard machine tapping setups and is part of OSG Series 10061. The plug chamfer allows it to start easily in through holes or in blind holes where sufficient thread runout exists. It is well matched to close-tolerance metric threading in precision manufacturing, aerospace component work, and general machining environments.
Designed for use in machine tapping applications requiring M3x0.50 metric coarse internal threads in aluminum, cast aluminum, cast iron, cobalt chrome, and copper alloy materials. Part of OSG Series 10061.
This tap is intended for use by qualified machinists on CNC machining centers or manual machine tools equipped with a tapping attachment or synchronized spindle. Power down and lock out the machine before loading or changing tooling. Ensure correct tap holder and chuck alignment to avoid tap breakage, particularly at this small diameter. Follow shop-standard speeds and feeds for the workpiece material and verify proper hole preparation before tapping.
