The OSG 1005000 is a straight flute bottoming tap designed for threading operations in a wide range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Built from high-speed steel with a bright/uncoated finish, it produces a 10-24 UNC right-hand thread and is engineered for use in blind holes where thread runout to the bottom of the bore is required. The bottoming chamfer provides only 1 to 2 threads of lead, allowing threads to be cut as close to the bottom of a hole as possible. With 4 flutes and an H1 thread limit, this tap delivers consistent thread accuracy in production and maintenance applications alike.
This tap is suited for threading operations on aluminum, cast aluminum, cast iron, low-carbon steel, medium-carbon steel, and high-carbon steel. It is commonly used by machinists, maintenance technicians, and tool-and-die professionals working with hand tapping or machine tapping setups where a bottoming profile is needed. Its straight flute geometry makes it appropriate for short-chipping materials where chip clearance is not a limiting factor.

Install in a tap wrench, tapping head, or CNC spindle with the appropriate tap holder for the shank diameter. Always ensure the workpiece is securely fixtured and the pilot hole is drilled to the correct tap drill size for 10-24 UNC before tapping. Power down or de-energize any machine spindle before loading or removing the tap. Use a cutting fluid appropriate for the workpiece material to extend tap life and reduce the risk of tap breakage.
