The OSG 0136901 is a spiral flute tap designed for cutting internal 10-32 UNF threads in a range of steel materials. It features a bottoming chamfer, which allows threading close to the bottom of blind holes. The 45-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation by pulling chips up and out of the hole during the tapping operation. The tool is manufactured from vanadium high-speed steel and coated with a steam oxide finish to provide lubricity and basic corrosion resistance during cutting. Licensed machinists, tool and die makers, and maintenance technicians install this tap in production and repair environments.
This tap is suited for threading blind and through-holes in stainless steel, high-carbon steel, low-carbon steel, and medium-carbon steel workpieces. The bottoming chamfer makes it the correct choice when full thread depth is required to the base of a blind hole. It fits standard tap holders and extension arms configured for the 10-32 UNF thread form. Typical applications include machine part fabrication, fixture building, and field repair work where a fine unified thread is required.
Designed for cutting 10-32 UNF right-hand internal threads in stainless steel, high-carbon steel, low-carbon steel, and medium-carbon steel. Compatible with standard tap wrenches, T-handle holders, and machine tap holders sized for the 0.194-inch shank diameter.
Tapping operations should be performed by a qualified machinist or technician familiar with proper speeds, feeds, and cutting fluid selection for the workpiece material. Always secure the workpiece before tapping and ensure the tap is aligned perpendicular to the hole to avoid tap breakage. Apply an appropriate cutting fluid for the material being threaded; dry tapping is not recommended for stainless steel. Inspect the tap for chipping or wear before each use and replace if damage is detected.
