The OREGON TOOL 23565 is a 5.5-inch plastic felling wedge designed for use during tree felling operations. It is inserted into the saw cut to prevent the bar and chain from binding, and to guide the direction of tree fall. The lightweight plastic construction reduces fatigue during use and minimizes damage to the saw chain if the wedge is accidentally struck during cutting. Licensed arborists, logging professionals, and experienced tree service technicians are the primary users of this tool.
This wedge is intended for directional felling work in forestry and tree service applications. It is placed in the kerf after an initial cut is made, allowing the operator to control fall direction while keeping the saw running freely. It is not designed or rated for log splitting. Suitable for both residential tree removal and commercial logging environments where wedge-assisted felling is standard practice.
Designed as a general-purpose felling wedge for use with chainsaw felling operations where a kerf wedge is required to control fall direction and prevent bar pinch.
Insert the wedge into the saw kerf after the initial felling cut is underway, with the chainsaw bar clear of the wedge at all times. Always power down or disengage the saw chain before repositioning the wedge by hand. Follow applicable ANSI Z133 safety standards and local regulatory guidelines for tree felling operations. This wedge is not a splitting wedge and should never be driven with a maul or splitting hammer.
