The ORBIT INDUSTRIES OF653 is a set-screw type connector designed for terminating metal clad (MC), armored cable (AC), and BX cable at knockout openings in electrical enclosures, panels, and junction boxes. The connector accepts a 3/8 inch trade size and fits a 1/2 inch knockout opening. Compatible cable outer diameter ranges from 0.437 inches to 0.622 inches, covering cable sizes 14/2 through 10/4. A single set screw secures the cable and provides strain relief without the need for separate locknuts in most standard applications. Licensed electricians install this connector as part of branch circuit and feeder wiring runs in residential and light commercial work.
The OF653 is suited for residential and light commercial electrical installations where MC or AC cable must be terminated at steel boxes, load centers, sub-panels, or enclosures with 1/2 inch knockouts. The set-screw design gives installers a fast, tool-simple connection method compared to squeeze-type fittings. It is particularly common in retrofit work and new construction where 14/2 through 10/4 MC or AC cable runs terminate at panels or junction boxes.
Designed for use with metal clad (MC), armored cable (AC), and BX cable in trade size 3/8 inch, terminating at enclosures or boxes with 1/2 inch knockout openings.
Installation must be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with NEC Article 330 for MC cable and Article 320 for AC cable. De-energize and lock out the circuit before connecting or terminating any cable at a panel or enclosure. Insert the cable through the connector body before tightening the set screw; do not overtighten the set screw to the point of damaging the cable jacket or armor. Verify that the connector is fully seated and the locknut is tight against the enclosure wall to maintain a secure mechanical and bonding connection.
