The ORBIT INDUSTRIES MGBLL-500 is a malleable iron ground bushing with an insulated throat and a universal lay-in lug, designed for grounding metal conduit at the termination point. The bushing installs on the end of rigid metal conduit or IMC to bond the conduit system to the equipment grounding conductor. The lay-in lug accepts conductors ranging from 6 AWG through 250 MCM, allowing the installer to lay the grounding wire in without threading it through a hole. The 5-inch trade size fits large service entrance and feeder conduit runs where solid mechanical grounding is required by the NEC.
This bushing is used in commercial and industrial electrical installations, primarily at service entrances, panel feeders, and equipment terminations where rigid metal conduit or IMC terminates into an enclosure, panelboard, or switchgear. Licensed electricians install this fitting during rough-in or service work on large-diameter conduit systems. The insulated throat protects conductors from abrasion at the conduit end, and the integral lay-in lug eliminates the need for a separate grounding lug, reducing parts count and labor time at the termination.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and new-installation fitting for 5-inch rigid metal conduit and IMC systems requiring a grounded insulated bushing termination.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with NEC grounding and bonding requirements. De-energize the circuit and verify absence of voltage before working at the termination point. Thread the bushing fully onto the conduit end before securing the enclosure locknut, then seat the grounding conductor into the lay-in lug and torque the lug screw to the fitting manufacturer specification marked on the lug. Inspect the insulated throat for damage before installation to ensure conductor protection is intact.
