The ORBIT INDUSTRIES HB-1-50 is a single-gang handy box designed for residential and commercial electrical wiring installations. Constructed from 16-gauge sheet steel with a galvanized finish, this welded steel switch box measures 2 inches x 4 inches x 1-7/8 inches deep. It provides a secure, code-ready enclosure for wiring devices such as switches and receptacles. The box ships with eight 1/2-inch knockouts on the sides and two 1/2-inch knockouts on the bottom, giving installers flexible conduit entry options. Licensed electricians and electrical contractors are the primary installers for this type of device enclosure.
The HB-1-50 suits standard wiring rough-in work in both residential and light commercial settings. It is appropriate for surface-mount or bracket-mount applications on studs, masonry, and framing where a 2 inches x 4 inches single-gang box footprint is required. The galvanized steel construction holds up in utility areas, mechanical rooms, and similar environments where bare-metal boxes are code-acceptable. The welded construction eliminates seam gaps that could compromise box integrity during installation.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard new-installation handy box for single-gang wiring device applications in residential and commercial electrical systems.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable local codes. De-energize the circuit at the panel before beginning any wiring work inside the box. Use a knockout punch or appropriate trade tool to open only the knockouts required for conduit entry, leaving unused knockouts intact. Verify that the box fill calculation complies with NEC Article 314 before pulling conductors.
