The ORBIT INDUSTRIES GSB-1 is an extra-shallow, 1-gang gangable switch box designed for electrical rough-in work in residential and light commercial construction. Measuring 2 inches deep with a 2-inch by 3-inch face footprint, this box ships with ears only — no built-in cable clamps — keeping the profile compact and the installation flexible. The gangable design allows multiple boxes to be joined side by side when a wider device configuration is required. Licensed electricians and electrical contractors install this box during the rough-in phase before drywall, securing it to studs or structural members as part of a listed wiring assembly.
The GSB-1 suits standard single-gang switch and receptacle installations in wood-frame walls. The box accepts two 1/2-inch knockouts on each side, making it compatible with common conduit and cable entries used in residential wiring. Its shallow 2-inch depth makes it a practical choice in tight framing situations where full-depth boxes will not fit. The gangable feature is particularly useful in multi-switch locations such as hallways, stairwells, and panel alcoves where two or more devices must be mounted side by side.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and new-construction switch box for standard 1-gang residential and light commercial wiring installations requiring a shallow-depth gangable enclosure.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable local codes. De-energize the circuit at the panel and verify with a non-contact voltage tester before making any connections. Secure the box firmly to the framing member so the front edge is flush with the finished wall surface. When ganging multiple boxes, remove the appropriate side knockouts and join the boxes per the manufacturer's instructions before securing to framing.
