The ORBIT INDUSTRIES 4SB-50 is a galvanized steel switch box designed for standard electrical rough-in work in residential and commercial construction. Built from 16-gauge sheet steel with a galvanized finish, this 4-inch by 4-inch by 1-1/2-inch box provides solid, corrosion-resistant enclosure for wiring connections and device mounting. The welded construction adds structural integrity during installation. With twelve 1/2-inch side knockouts and four 1/2-inch bottom knockouts, the box offers flexible conduit entry options to suit a wide range of wiring configurations. Licensed electricians and electrical contractors install this type of box as part of branch circuit and device rough-in work.
This switch box is suited for use in standard wall and ceiling installations where a 4S-style square box with 1-1/2-inch depth is required. The galvanized finish makes it appropriate for both dry and mildly corrosive indoor environments. It is commonly used in new construction and renovation projects across residential and light commercial applications where rigid or flexible metal conduit systems are routed to device locations.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard new-installation switch box compatible with 4S-style covers, mud rings, and plaster rings designed for 4-inch square boxes.
Installation must be performed by a qualified electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable local codes. De-energize all circuits at the panel before beginning any rough-in or device work. Ensure knockouts are cleanly removed using an approved knockout punch or hammer-and-chisel method before inserting conduit connectors. Secure the box to structural framing per NEC box-support requirements before pulling conductors.
