The OPTICAL CABLE CORP. RFC-SCAPC is a field-termination SC/APC fiber optic connector engineered for single-mode fiber. The SC/APC (angled physical contact) ferrule design provides a polished 8-degree angle that minimizes back-reflection, making this connector well-suited for applications where return loss performance is critical. It is designed for 250 micrometer (um) coated, 9 um core single-mode fiber. Network installers, low-voltage technicians, and OSP (outside plant) contractors use this connector when terminating fiber runs that require low insertion loss and high return loss performance.
This connector is appropriate for single-mode fiber installations in commercial buildings, data centers, telecommunications closets, and outside plant environments. The SC connector format uses a push-pull coupling mechanism that allows straightforward insertion and removal in high-density patch panels, fiber distribution hubs, and wall-plate inserts. It is sold individually, one connector per unit.
Designed as a field-termination connector for 250 um coated, 9 um core single-mode fiber optic cable, compatible with standard SC/APC-format fiber distribution panels, patch panels, and adapter sleeves.
Installation should be performed by a qualified low-voltage technician or fiber optic installer following TIA-568 or applicable structured cabling standards. Proper fiber preparation tools including a precision cleaver or polishing equipment are required depending on the termination method. Inspect ferrule end-faces with a fiber inspection scope before mating to verify cleanliness and polish quality. Never mate an SC/APC connector to an SC/UPC adapter, as the 8-degree ferrule angle will cause damage and high insertion loss.
