The OPTICAL CABLE CORP. RFC-LC5G is an LC-style fiber optic connector designed for use with OM3 and OM4 multimode fiber in 250-micron and 900-micron buffer configurations. LC connectors use a compact push-pull latch mechanism that locks securely into adapters and patch panels, making them a standard choice in high-density fiber installations. This connector is installed by low-voltage technicians, data center cabling professionals, and telecommunications contractors performing structured cabling work. It supports the high-bandwidth, short-to-medium-distance applications where OM3 and OM4 multimode fiber is commonly deployed.
The RFC-LC5G is suited for structured cabling environments including data centers, enterprise network closets, and commercial building backbone runs. OM3 and OM4 multimode fiber is commonly used with 10G, 25G, and 40G Ethernet and Fibre Channel applications over distances up to several hundred meters. This connector is compatible with 250-micron tight-buffered and 900-micron tight-buffered fiber strands, covering the two most common single-fiber build configurations used in premises cabling. It is sold individually as a single connector for field termination or repair use.
Designed as an OEM-style field-termination connector for OM3 and OM4 multimode fiber installations using 250-micron or 900-micron buffer configurations.
Installation should be performed by a qualified low-voltage or fiber optic cabling technician following TIA-568 and manufacturer termination procedures. Ensure fiber is properly cleaved or polished and the end face is cleaned before seating in the connector body. Inspect the ferrule end face with a fiber inspection scope before mating to avoid contamination-related signal loss. Do not exceed the minimum bend radius of the fiber cable during routing and termination.
