The OPTEX SL-350QFR is a quad beam photoelectric detector designed for perimeter security applications in both outdoor and indoor environments. The unit projects four parallel beams across a protected zone, requiring simultaneous interruption of multiple beams to trigger an alarm — reducing false alarms caused by small animals, debris, or environmental interference. With a 350-foot detection range outdoors and a 700-foot detection range indoors, it covers large perimeter spans in a single detector pair. Security system installers and integrators work with this type of device on commercial, industrial, and high-security residential projects.
The SL-350QFR is suited for outdoor perimeter protection along fence lines, building facades, driveways, and open grounds, as well as long indoor corridors, warehouses, and large interior spaces. The extended indoor range of 700 feet makes it practical for facilities where conventional passive infrared or motion sensors fall short. The quad beam configuration is specifically chosen for environments where single or dual beam detectors generate unacceptable false alarm rates.
Designed as an OEM-style photoelectric beam detector for use in hard-wired perimeter security and intrusion detection systems that accept standard beam detector inputs.
Installation of photoelectric beam detectors is typically performed by licensed security system integrators or alarm technicians. Power down the associated control panel and any connected low-voltage circuits before wiring. Transmitter and receiver heads must be precisely aligned at the same height and angle for reliable operation — misalignment is the most common cause of nuisance alarms or failure to detect. Refer to local electrical codes and the manufacturer product manual for mounting height, conduit requirements, and end-of-line resistor specifications.
