The ONSRUD 63-603 is a single-edge upcut spiral router bit machined from solid carbide for cutting aluminum and similar non-ferrous materials. The upcut flute geometry pulls chips up and out of the cut, reducing heat buildup and keeping the flute clear during through-cuts. The 22-degree helix angle balances chip evacuation with edge stability on thin and medium-gauge aluminum stock. At 0.0938 inches in cutter diameter with a 0.25-inch length of cut and a 1/8-inch shank, this bit is sized for fine detail routing, engraving paths, and narrow channel work where a larger tool cannot fit. Overall length is 2 inches with a 1.75-inch shank length. The uncoated carbide surface is appropriate for aluminum where certain coatings can cause material adhesion.
This bit is intended for CNC routing applications involving aluminum sheet, extrusions, and plate in both production shop and job-shop environments. The small cutter diameter makes it well suited for circuit board cutouts, nameplate engraving, thin-wall aluminum profiles, and tight-radius contour work. Right-hand cutting direction is standard for conventional CNC spindle rotation. It is not piloted and is designed for use in a collet-style router spindle. Machinists and CNC operators working in metal fabrication, sign-making, and light aerospace component routing are the primary installers of this tool.
Designed for use in CNC router spindles accepting a 1/8-inch collet. Intended for aluminum material applications as specified by the manufacturer for the 63-600 series.
This bit is installed by a machinist or CNC operator. Always de-energize and lock out the spindle before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the collet to the recommended engagement depth and torque the collet nut per the spindle manufacturer specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a production run, as excessive runout at this small diameter will accelerate edge wear and risk bit breakage.
