The ONSRUD 62-620 is a single-edge downcut spiral router bit machined from solid carbide and designed for precise routing in aluminum and similar non-ferrous materials. With a 0.25-inch cutter diameter, a 0.375-inch length of cut, and a 22-degree helix angle, this bit drives chips downward during cutting to produce clean top-surface finishes and reduce workpiece lifting. The 2-inch overall length and 1/4-inch shank fit standard router collets and CNC spindles. Cutting direction is right-hand. The bit ships uncoated, which suits applications where coating buildup could affect tight-tolerance aluminum work. Installed by machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments.
The 62-620 is suited for routing, slotting, and profiling operations in aluminum sheet, plate, and extrusion stock. The downcut flute geometry makes it a practical choice where top-surface finish quality is the priority, such as decorative panel work, sign fabrication, or precision component profiling. The 1.625-inch shank length provides adequate grip in standard 1/4-inch collect chucks. It is part of the ONSRUD 62-600 series, which targets single-flute spiral tooling for light-metal and soft-material applications.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use solid carbide spiral router bit for 1/4-inch collet routers and CNC machining centers targeting aluminum and comparable non-ferrous or soft materials. Part of the ONSRUD 62-600 series.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC technician with the spindle fully powered down and locked out per applicable machine safety procedures. Ensure the collet and collet nut are clean and free of debris before seating the shank. Do not exceed the manufacturer-rated feed and speed parameters for the material being cut. Secure the workpiece firmly before routing to prevent movement during the downcut stroke.
