The OETIKER 16704685-100 is a single-ear clamp designed for permanent, tamper-resistant hose and tubing connections in plumbing, HVAC, and fluid-handling applications. The clamp features a nominal size of 1-3/4 inches, a band width of 7 millimeters, and a band thickness of 0.6 millimeters. Constructed from stainless steel, it resists corrosion in wet and chemically active environments. The ear closure mechanism is crimped with a standard ear-clamp tool, creating a 360-degree radial clamping force around the hose or fitting. Licensed plumbers, HVAC technicians, and mechanical contractors rely on this clamp type where a low-profile, vibration-resistant seal is required and disassembly after installation is not anticipated.
This ear clamp suits residential and light commercial installations where PEX tubing, rubber hoses, or flexible connectors must be secured to barbed fittings. Common applications include hydronic heating lines, refrigerant-side flexible connections, potable water supply tubing, and automotive or equipment coolant hoses. The 1-3/4 inch nominal size accommodates tubing in that diameter range. The stainless steel construction makes it appropriate for both indoor and outdoor installations where moisture exposure is a concern.
Designed as an OEM-style single-ear clamp for use with 1-3/4 inch nominal diameter hose and tubing assemblies requiring a permanent crimped connection.
Installation requires an ear-clamp crimping tool or pincer-style pliers designed for single-ear Oetiker-type clamps. Shut off and depressurize the relevant fluid or refrigerant circuit before removing or installing any clamp. Inspect the hose or tubing bead seat and barbed fitting for damage before seating the clamp. Because the ear deforms permanently during crimping, the clamp cannot be reused once installed.
