The OATEY K836-22 is a closed-cell foam anti-condensation liner kit designed to prevent moisture buildup on the exterior of toilet tanks. When cold water sits inside a porcelain tank, warm ambient air contacts the outer surface and causes condensation to form. Left unaddressed, that dripping moisture damages flooring and subfloor materials over time. This liner installs directly inside the tank, creating a thermal barrier between the cold water and the tank wall. The self-adhesive backing eliminates the need for separate adhesive, making installation straightforward for plumbers and knowledgeable DIYers alike. Each kit provides 16 inches by 48 inches of foam material, enough to line a standard residential toilet tank.
This liner kit is well suited to residential installations where condensation is a recurring problem, particularly in homes supplied by well water, which tends to run colder than municipal supply. High-humidity climates and seasons compound the issue, making a tank liner an effective first line of defense. Plumbers often recommend this solution during service calls where a homeowner reports wet floors around the toilet without any visible leak at the supply line or wax ring. The kit is sold as a single unit and is intended for one toilet tank per kit.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement liner for standard residential toilet tanks where anti-condensation treatment is required.
Installation is performed by a plumber or qualified DIYer. Before beginning, shut off the water supply at the stop valve and flush the tank completely to drain residual water. The tank interior must be thoroughly dried before applying the self-adhesive foam panels, as moisture on the tank wall will prevent proper adhesion. Allow adequate cure time before restoring water supply per the adhesive manufacturer's guidance.
