The OATEY COMPANY 43539 is a 4-inch PVC replacement closet flange engineered to restore failed or broken cast iron closet flanges without a full pipe replacement. The compression joint design allows up to 3 inches of vertical adjustment along the riser, giving installers the flexibility needed when working with existing drain stacks that have settled or corroded. The flange slides inside cast iron or Schedule 40 DWV plastic pipe, creating a secure mechanical connection. Stainless steel closet bolts are tightened from the finished floor level, eliminating the need to work inside the drain cavity. Licensed plumbers install this flange as a direct-service repair component on residential toilet drain assemblies.
This flange is suited for residential bathroom plumbing repair and renovation work. It is designed specifically to replace broken or deteriorated cast iron closet flanges in retrofit situations where the existing drain pipe remains serviceable. The slide-in compression fit works inside cast iron pipe or Schedule 40 DWV plastic pipe, making it applicable to older homes with legacy cast iron drain systems as well as newer construction with plastic DWV stacks. The finished-floor bolt-tightening feature is especially useful in remodel scenarios where access beneath the subfloor is limited.

Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and the International Plumbing Code (IPC). Shut off the water supply and remove the toilet before beginning flange work. Ensure the existing riser pipe is clean and free of debris before sliding the compression flange into position. Do not overtighten the compression fitting beyond the manufacturer's specified feel of resistance, and verify the flange sits level before setting the toilet.
