The OATEY COMPANY 32161 is a medium-bodied, blue PVC solvent cement designed for fast, reliable joints on all schedules and classes of PVC pipe and fittings up to 6 inches in diameter with interference fit. Formulated as a hot cement, it sets very quickly and performs in wet conditions or where rapid pressurization is required after installation. The low-VOC formula meets California South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) Rule 1168/316A and BAAQMD Method 40 environmental requirements. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters working in both residential and light commercial environments will find this cement suited to time-sensitive jobs where conditions are less than ideal.
This 8 oz cement is recommended for potable water, sewer, and DWV (drain, waste, vent) applications. Its fast-set characteristic makes it well suited for production plumbing work, repair calls, and installations where the line must be returned to service quickly. It is rated for application temperatures from 40 degrees F to 110 degrees F (4 degrees C to 43 degrees C). Where local codes permit, no primer is required on non-pressure DWV systems, which can reduce steps on eligible jobs.
Designed for use on all schedules and classes of PVC pipe and fittings up to 6 inches in diameter with interference fit, covering potable water, sewer, and DWV applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and the International Plumbing Code (IPC). Shut off the water supply and depressurize the line before cutting or joining pipe. Apply cement evenly to both the pipe end and fitting socket, assemble immediately with a slight twisting motion, and hold the joint for the time specified by the cement manufacturer before allowing movement. Allow adequate cure time before pressurizing the system, particularly in cool or humid conditions.
