The OATEY COMPANY 31019 is a clear, medium-bodied PVC solvent cement designed for joining PVC pipe and fittings up to 6 inches in diameter. It is formulated for use on Schedule 40 and Schedule 80 PVC systems across a broad range of applications. The cement bonds through a solvent-welding process, softening and fusing pipe and fitting surfaces to create a permanent, leak-resistant joint. It is recommended for use at application temperatures between 40 degrees F and 100 degrees F. The 16 oz container is a standard working size suited for field service and installation projects.
This cement is appropriate for residential and commercial plumbing, electrical conduit, and gas distribution installations. Approved applications include drain, waste, and vent pipe, pressure pipe systems, potable water lines, gas systems, and conduit. The medium-body formulation is suitable for all grades and types of PVC pipe and fittings, making it a versatile option for licensed plumbers and electricians working across multiple system types. It meets ASTM D-2564, the standard specification for solvent cements used on PVC plastic pipe and fittings.
Recommended for all grades and types of PVC pipe and fittings including gas, conduit, drain, waste, vent, pressure pipe, and potable water systems up to 6 inches in diameter for Schedule 40 and Schedule 80 applications.
PVC solvent cement is typically applied by licensed plumbers or electricians working under applicable codes such as the IPC or NEC. Before cementing, ensure pipe ends are cut square, deburred, and cleaned with the appropriate primer where required by code. Apply cement to both the pipe end and fitting socket, then immediately push and quarter-turn the joint. Do not disturb the joint during the cure period. Work in a well-ventilated area as solvent fumes are flammable and can be hazardous in enclosed spaces.
