The OATEY COMPANY 31012 is a clear, regular-body PVC solvent cement formulated for joining PVC pipe and fittings across a range of schedule ratings and applications. At 4 oz, it is a standard field-size container suited for service work and repair jobs. The cement works on Schedule 40 PVC pipe and fittings up to 4 inches and on Schedule 80 pipe up to 2 inches. It exceeds ASTM D-2564 performance requirements and carries NSF certification, making it appropriate for potable water, drain-waste-vent, gas, and conduit installations. Plumbers, pipefitters, and electricians keep this size on the truck for everyday solvent-weld work.
This cement is used in residential and light commercial plumbing, electrical conduit runs, DWV systems, and gas piping assemblies where PVC is the specified pipe material. Its clear formulation leaves minimal visible bead at joints, which is common practice on exposed or inspected runs. Regular-body viscosity is appropriate for close-tolerance fittings and standard socket depths on Schedule 40 and Schedule 80 pipe within the rated size ranges.
Designed for use on PVC pipe and fittings up to 4 inches for Schedule 40 and up to 2 inches for Schedule 80. Suitable for gas, conduit, and DWV applications where PVC solvent cement meeting ASTM D-2564 is required.
Solvent-welding PVC is performed by licensed plumbers or electricians depending on the system type. Before applying cement, clean and dry both mating surfaces and apply a compatible PVC primer where required by local code. Allow the solvent weld to cure fully per the cement manufacturer cure schedule before pressurizing or backfilling the line. Work in a ventilated area and keep the container sealed when not in use to prevent solvent evaporation.
