The OATEY COMPANY 30918 is a 16 oz black, medium-body ABS pipe cement formulated for solvent-welding ABS plastic pipe and fittings in drain, waste, and vent (DWV) applications. The medium-body viscosity gives plumbers a workable consistency that flows into fittings smoothly while still providing the gap-fill needed on standard-fit joints. This cement exceeds ASTM D-2235 performance requirements and carries NSF certification, meeting the quality and safety benchmarks required on commercial and residential plumbing installations. The black color matches ABS pipe, keeping finished assemblies visually clean. It is intended for use by licensed plumbers and qualified plumbing contractors.
This cement is rated for use on ABS pipe and fittings up to 6 inches in diameter, making it suitable for the full range of residential drain, waste, and vent system work as well as light commercial DWV rough-in. Typical applications include hub-and-spigot DWV fittings, closet flanges, trap arms, drain bodies, and vent stacks where ABS plastic is the specified pipe material. It is sold in cases of 24 units, making it a practical stock item for plumbing supply rooms and service vehicles.
Designed for use on ABS pipe and fittings up to 6 inches in diameter in drain, waste, and vent systems. This product is not formulated for PVC, CPVC, or other non-ABS plastic piping materials.
ABS cement installations must comply with the applicable plumbing code, typically the IPC or local equivalent, and manufacturer application instructions. Before cementing, ensure pipe ends are cut square, deburred, and dry. Apply cement to both the pipe end and fitting socket using the included applicator, assemble immediately with a slight twist, and hold the joint briefly to prevent push-out. Work in a well-ventilated area and keep the container closed when not in use to prevent solvent evaporation and premature thickening.
