The OATEY 7210 is a reducer washer designed to create a watertight seal between drain fittings of differing sizes. It fits a nominal pipe size of 1-1/2 x 1-1/4 inches, with an inside diameter of 1-1/4 inches and an outside diameter of 1-3/4 inches. At 5/32 inch thick, this washer seats firmly against drain basket flanges and slip-joint nuts to prevent leaks at the connection point. Plumbers and drain service technicians install it during trap and drain assembly work on sinks and lavatories where a size transition is required.
This reducer washer is used in residential and light commercial plumbing applications wherever a 1-1/2-inch drain line connects to a 1-1/4-inch drain outlet. It is a common service part for kitchen and bathroom sink drain assemblies, particularly when replacing P-traps, tailpieces, or slip-joint fittings that span two nominal sizes. Keeping a supply on hand reduces callbacks caused by mismatched fitting sizes.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement washer for residential and light commercial sink drain assemblies using 1-1/2 x 1-1/4 inch nominal slip-joint drain fittings.
A licensed plumber or experienced technician should shut off water supply and empty the trap before servicing drain connections. Hand-tighten slip-joint nuts first to seat the washer evenly, then snug with channel-lock pliers — overtightening can deform the washer and cause leaks. Work follows IPC and local plumbing code requirements for drain and waste connections. Inspect the washer seating surface for debris or damage before assembly.
