The OATEY 400WK is a white plastic P-trap designed for under-sink drain assemblies where a 1-1/2 inch drain line must transition down to a 1-1/4 inch connection. The trap maintains a water seal in the drain line, blocking sewer gases from entering the occupied space. A reducer washer is included to make the 1-1/2 inch to 1-1/4 inch transition without additional fittings. All necessary nuts and washers are included for a complete, leak-resistant assembly. A wall flange is also included to cover the opening at the wall stub-out. Licensed plumbers and experienced DIYers install this trap during new sink installations, drain replacements, or fixture upgrades.
This P-trap is suited for residential bathroom and kitchen sink drain applications. It is commonly installed under vanity sinks with 1-1/4 inch tailpieces connecting to 1-1/2 inch drain rough-ins. The white plastic finish blends with standard white cabinetry and exposed drain work. The slip-joint design allows for in-field adjustment of trap arm depth and angle during installation, which is useful when working with existing rough-in locations that are not perfectly centered under the drain outlet.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation P-trap for residential sink drain assemblies using 1-1/2 inch to 1-1/4 inch tubular drainage configurations.
Installation is typically performed by a licensed plumber or qualified DIYer following applicable local plumbing codes and IPC guidelines. Shut off the water supply and clear standing water from the drain before beginning disassembly of an existing trap. Hand-tighten slip-joint nuts first to confirm alignment, then snug with slip-joint pliers — do not overtighten plastic fittings. After installation, run water and visually inspect all joints for leaks before closing access to the cabinet.
