The OATEY 31105 is a heavy-body gray PVC cement formulated for solvent-welding PVC pipe and fittings across a wide range of plumbing applications. Supplied in a 32 oz can, this cement delivers a thick, gap-filling consistency that provides strong, reliable joints on all grades and schedules of PVC. It is engineered for use in both potable water and drain-waste-vent (DWV) systems, making it a versatile choice for residential and light commercial plumbing installations. Licensed plumbers and experienced trades reach for heavy-body formulations when working with larger-diameter pipe or fittings that require additional fill in the joint area.
This cement is suited for PVC pressure, DWV, and potable water piping systems installed in residential and commercial settings. It performs across all grades and types of PVC pipe and fittings, including Schedule 40 and Schedule 80 applications. The recommended application temperature range is 40 degrees F to 110 degrees F, making it appropriate for most standard in-field conditions. It is a go-to choice for plumbers running new water service lines, drain lines, and vent stacks.
Recommended for all grades and types of PVC pipe and fittings for potable water and DWV systems.
PVC cement solvent welding is typically performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with the International Plumbing Code (IPC) and local authority requirements. Shut off water supply and depressurize the line before cutting into any existing pipe. Clean and dry pipe and fitting surfaces, then apply primer where required by code before applying cement. Work in a well-ventilated area, as solvent cement fumes are flammable and an inhalation hazard.
