The NU-CALGON M5012 is a valve seat anti-wear additive formulated to protect valve seats and upper cylinder areas in engines that previously ran on leaded or low-lead gasoline. As fuel formulations have shifted away from tetraethyl lead, older engines designed around leaded fuel lose the lubrication that lead provided to valve seats and valve guides. The M5012 replaces that protective function, reducing wear on contact surfaces during normal combustion cycles. Each bottle contains 12 fluid ounces and is sold as a single unit. This type of additive is commonly used by small engine mechanics, fleet maintenance technicians, and equipment service professionals.
The M5012 is intended for use in engines originally designed to run on leaded or low-lead gasoline, including older carbureted engines found in vintage vehicles, agricultural equipment, generators, and other small or large displacement engines where valve seat recession is a concern. It is suited to both professional shop use and field service applications where fuel system protection is part of routine maintenance.
Designed for use in all engine types originally specified for leaded or low-lead gasoline, including carbureted gasoline engines in vintage, agricultural, and small equipment applications where valve seat lubrication from lead is no longer present in the fuel supply.
This additive is applied directly to the fuel tank by a small engine mechanic or equipment service technician. Shut down the engine and allow it to cool before adding to the fuel system. Follow the dosage guidance on the product label and do not exceed recommended treat rates. No special tools are required for application.
