The NSI INDUSTRIES SLW-8 is a split-type lockwasher made from silicon bronze, designed for use with 1/2-inch fasteners in electrical lug applications. Silicon bronze combines corrosion resistance with solid mechanical strength, making this washer a dependable choice in environments where moisture, salt, or chemical exposure can degrade standard steel hardware. The split design bites into mating surfaces under torque, resisting loosening from vibration and thermal cycling. This washer is sold individually and is suited for use by licensed electricians and electrical contractors working on grounding, bonding, and termination assemblies.
The SLW-8 is applied at electrical lug connections where a reliable, corrosion-resistant fastening solution is required. Silicon bronze hardware is commonly specified in marine, coastal, pool and spa, and industrial environments where ferrous metals are unsuitable. It is also used in grounding electrode conductor terminations and bonding jumper assemblies where long-term mechanical integrity at the connection point is critical. The 1/2-inch fastener size covers a wide range of standard lug hardware used in residential and light commercial electrical work.
Designed for use with 1/2-inch fasteners in lug applications within the SLW series. Suitable as a corrosion-resistant lockwasher for electrical lug and bonding termination assemblies requiring silicon bronze hardware.
Installation is performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with applicable NEC requirements for grounding, bonding, and lug termination assemblies. De-energize the circuit and follow lockout/tagout procedures before servicing any connection point where this washer is used. Seat the washer flat against the mating surface with the split ends oriented to engage properly under fastener torque. Do not reuse a split lockwasher that has been fully compressed flat, as it will no longer provide the intended locking action.
