This toggle bolt is suited for residential and light commercial installation work, including mounting electrical boxes, conduit straps, lighting fixtures, and similar hardware to drywall, plaster, and hollow block surfaces. Designed as a standard 3/16-inch spring wing toggle bolt for use in hollow drywall, plaster, and similar thin-wall substrates where through-hole anchor access is available from the front face only.
Toggle bolts are installed by threading the wing assembly onto the bolt, folding the wings flat, inserting the assembly through a pre-drilled hole, and then tightening until the wings seat firmly against the back of the substrate. De-energize any circuits in the work area before drilling into walls or ceilings, in accordance with NFPA 70 (NEC) lockout requirements. Use a drill bit matched to the bolt diameter to avoid an oversized hole that could allow the toggle to spin. Once the wing is pulled into the wall cavity, the fastener is not retrievable without damage to the substrate.
