The NSI INDUSTRIES HS31032 is a 32-ounce heat shield gel formulated to protect surrounding surfaces during torch-based brazing and soldering operations. Applied directly to adjacent materials such as wood framing, insulation, wiring, and drywall, the gel absorbs and deflects heat to prevent scorching, charring, or ignition. The formula is non-toxic and non-corrosive, making it safe to handle on job sites where multiple trades are working in close proximity. After use, the gel evaporates on its own within 24 to 48 hours without leaving residue or requiring cleanup beyond normal wiping.
This heat shield gel is suited for plumbing and HVAC rough-in work where copper pipe brazing or soldering occurs near combustible building materials. Typical applications include sweating fittings inside wall cavities, near floor joists, or in tight mechanical chases where clearance from framing and insulation is limited. It is also useful for electrical work involving soldering near wire insulation or junction boxes.
Designed for use on common construction materials including wood, drywall, insulation, and wire insulation that require heat protection during torch operations such as brazing and soldering.
Apply the gel to any surface adjacent to the work area before igniting the torch. Licensed plumbers, HVAC technicians, and electricians performing torch work should follow applicable fire-protection requirements under local codes and NFPA guidelines. Keep a fire extinguisher accessible when working with open flame near combustible materials. After the work is complete, allow the gel to evaporate naturally or wipe away any remaining material with a clean cloth.
