The NSI INDUSTRIES GL156B is a copper compression lug designed for terminating 1 AWG copper conductors. Compression lugs create a cold-weld connection between the conductor and the lug barrel when properly crimped, resulting in a low-resistance, vibration-resistant termination. This type of fitting is standard in commercial and industrial electrical panels, switchgear, and service entrance applications where secure, code-compliant conductor terminations are required. Licensed electricians and electrical contractors install these lugs as part of feeder, branch circuit, and grounding conductor work.
The GL156B is suited for use in residential service entrances, commercial electrical distribution, and industrial control panels where 1 AWG copper conductors require a reliable mechanical and electrical termination point. These lugs are commonly installed at bus bars, breaker terminals, disconnect switches, and transformer secondary connections. The copper construction ensures good conductivity and compatibility with copper wiring systems.
Designed as an OEM-style compression lug for 1 AWG copper conductor terminations in standard residential, commercial, and industrial electrical installations.
Installation must be performed by a qualified electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC). Always de-energize and lock out the circuit before terminating conductors. Use a calibrated compression tool sized for the lug barrel to achieve a proper cold-weld crimp. Do not use open-barrel crimping tools or pliers as substitutes for a proper compression crimper.
