The NSI INDUSTRIES 253 is a 1-1/4 inch compression-type EMT connector used to secure electrical metallic tubing to junction boxes, panels, and enclosures. Compression connectors create a watertight, gas-tight mechanical connection by tightening a compression ring onto the tubing — no set-screw required. The 253 is installed by licensed electricians during conduit rough-in work on both new construction and retrofit projects. It provides a secure, low-resistance bond between the conduit and the enclosure, supporting the grounding continuity of the raceway system.
This connector is suited for use in residential and light commercial electrical installations where 1-1/4 inch EMT conduit terminates at a box or enclosure. Compression-style fittings are commonly specified in wet or damp location applications where a tighter mechanical seal is preferred over set-screw alternatives. The 253 is appropriate for indoor and outdoor installations where code requires secure conduit termination.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard fitting for 1-1/4 inch EMT conduit terminations at electrical boxes, panels, and enclosures.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code) requirements for conduit fittings and raceway systems. De-energize all circuits in the affected panel or enclosure before beginning work. The compression nut should be tightened using an appropriate wrench until the fitting is snug and the conduit is firmly secured — do not overtighten to the point of deforming the conduit or fitting. Verify that the conduit-to-enclosure bond is intact to maintain grounding continuity of the raceway.
