The NORTON 78072750501 is a coated abrasive belt designed for aggressive stock removal on metal, wood, and composite materials. Built on a heavyweight Y-weight polyester cloth backing, this belt handles the flex and tension demands of wide-belt and stroke-sander applications. At 40 grit, it falls in the coarse grade range, making it the right choice for initial grinding, weld blending, and surface conditioning passes. The zirconia alumina abrasive grain is self-sharpening under pressure, which extends belt life and maintains a consistent cut rate through the full working life of the belt. The closed coat density maximizes abrasive coverage for faster material removal.
This belt measures 8 inches wide by 107 inches long and is suited for use on wide-belt sanders, combination machines, and large-format stroke sanders commonly found in fabrication shops, millwork operations, and metal service centers. The R824 series construction supports both wet and dry operation, making it compatible with coolant-assisted grinding setups as well as dry-run equipment. It is installed and used by metalworking fabricators, welders, millwrights, and woodworking professionals.
Designed for use on wide-belt sanders and stroke sanders accepting an 8 inch by 107 inch abrasive belt. Confirm machine drum and platen size before installation.
Belt installation should be performed by qualified equipment operators familiar with wide-belt sander setup procedures. Power down and lock out the machine before mounting or removing any abrasive belt. Verify belt tracking, tension, and arrow direction relative to the intended run direction before starting the machine. Inspect the belt for tears or edge damage before each use and replace immediately if any defects are found.
