The NORTON 78072743402 is a 7-inch ceramic alumina fiber disc engineered for aggressive material removal on metal, stainless steel, and hard-to-grind alloys. Built on a resinoid bond with a fiber backing, this coated abrasive disc delivers consistent cut rates through very coarse 36-grit ceramic alumina grains. Ceramic alumina is a self-sharpening abrasive material that fractures during use to expose fresh cutting edges, sustaining removal rates over the life of the disc. The disc mounts via a standard arbor hole attachment and is rated to 8600 RPM. It is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 25 units.
This disc is suited for heavy grinding, weld removal, and surface conditioning in fabrication shops, metal service centers, and industrial maintenance environments. The 7/8-inch arbor hole fits standard right-angle grinder backing pads and hub-style adapters common in professional metal fabrication. The very coarse 36-grit cut is appropriate for stock removal, deburring, and scale removal on carbon steel, stainless, and cast iron. The orange disc color is consistent with the F980 series designation noted in the product attributes.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement fiber disc for use on 7-inch right-angle grinders and disc grinders accepting a 7/8-inch arbor hole backing pad or hub adapter.
Installation is performed by grinding professionals and metal fabricators. Before mounting, disconnect or de-energize the grinder and verify the backing pad is rated at or above the disc maximum RPM. Inspect the disc for cracks or damage before each use and never exceed the 8600 RPM rating marked on the disc. Ensure the arbor nut is properly tightened against the backing pad per the tool manufacturer torque guidance before operating.
