The NORTON 78072733175 is a narrow coated abrasive belt designed for aggressive material removal on portable and stationary belt sanding equipment. Running at 40 grit coarse grade, this belt cuts fast through metal, wood, and composites. The aluminum oxide abrasive grain is bonded to an X-weight cloth backing with closed coat density, delivering consistent scratch patterns and long belt life under dry operation conditions. At 1/4 inch wide and 18 inches long, it fits compact file belt sanders and detail grinding tools commonly used by metalworkers, pipefitters, and finishing trades.
This belt is suited for deburring, weld blending, surface preparation, and tight-radius grinding in applications where a standard-width belt cannot reach. The X-weight cloth backing resists tearing under tension and flexes enough to conform to curved or contoured workpieces. Dry operation only. Part of the Norton R228 series, these belts are a staple in metal fabrication shops, HVAC duct fabrication, and plumbing rough-in work where compact abrasive tools are used in confined spaces.
Designed as a replacement or consumable belt for compact file belt sanders and detail grinders accepting a 1/4 inch wide by 18 inch long belt configuration.
Power down and unplug the sanding tool before installing or replacing the belt. Confirm belt tracking direction matches the arrow marked on the inside of the belt prior to tensioning. Inspect the drive and idler rollers for wear or debris before seating the new belt. Use appropriate eye protection and dust control measures during operation.
